I fell in love with genealogy in the 8th grade while working on a school project for Ms. Berman’s class. That love developed in college when I shared it with Aunt Dotsie, who had been tracking our Reilly family history for years. At times it would come and go, and I would not touch any of my research for months when life was too busy. Recently, I revived my interest in our family history and have since been fascinated by the wealth of information I am finding. As I trace our roots back to famous distant relatives (Robert E. Lee) and discover mystery yet to be solved (the missing Nelson Baldwin family), I’m excited by how our family history is interwoven with history in itself. Finding our family to be participants, if even only minimally, in some of the most important moments in time joins my love of family together with my love of history.

I see you are researching Hardy. I am researching Hardee. My line goes back to John Ziba Hardee.
Hi – Hardy was my maternal grandmother’s maiden name. Mostly from Georgia/Mississippi/Tennessee. I don’t know of a John Ziba in our line, but do have some instances where the name was spelled with two ee’s instead of a y. I only have my Hardy line back to my 3rd Great-Grandfather Asbury Berry Hardy, born 1823 in South Carolina. Does any of that line up with your family – in terms of locations?
